Queensland Floods

The floods in Queensland are now peaking over 4000 people have been evacuated some towns empty and the rivers continue to rise. Condamine on the Darling Downs has become a ghost town. The Bruce Highway and airways into Rockhampton is expected to be cut this afternoon so no trucks, fuel, food will be getting through.  Fuel is limited and is currently being saved for the emergency helicopters.

The situation is now at almost it's worst and it will be a long time before the people will be able to return to their homes and start repairing or rebuilding.  I hope the government has strategic plans in place to help because this is not going to go away overnight for a lot of people. Also Coal mining has been suspended as the mines are full of water.  So many businesses, farmers have been hit hard and fruit and vegetables are now expected to rise possible by 50% due to low supply of many items.

We can only hope that there will be no more cyclones for sometime as further rain would be disastrous.

THE YEAR AHEAD AND FOODS THAT BURN TUMMY FAT

NEXT YEAR IS THE YEAR OF THE RABBIT
It is written that people born in the Chinese year of the rabbit are articulated, ambitious and talented.  Rabbit years are fourth in the cycle following Tiger. It is expected to be a placid year after the ferocious year of the Tiger. In such a year it is expected that good taste and refinement will shine and people will use  persuasion instead of force.
In many places, foods shaped like coins are thought to bring prosperity in the new year.
I have been reading about lucky food a new one on me. For eg.
In many Asian countries, long noodles are eaten on New Year's Day in order to bring a long life. One catch: You can't break the noodle before it is all in your mouth.

FOODS THAT BURN TUMMY FAT
Oatmeal – but plain variety no sugar added
Nuts – Any kind  -walnuts are good
Spinach and greens – trying eating a small salad before a meal helps to kill the hunger pains
Cannellini Beans – helps to burn fat
Iced tea – green tea is good but any tea brewed at home not purchased as is full of sugar
Avocado’s
Dairy low fat
Peanut Butter prevents belly bloat only 2 tbspns a day
Wholegrains - wholegrain bread or labelled whole wheat
Lean Meats and fish- turkey or tuna and salmon are good choices
Beans and Legumes
Eggs but not too many if cholesterol is a problem
Berries
Olive Oil
Protein Powder but not to be used in high fat milkshakes like chocolate
Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
This low-cal, calcium-rich treat activates the body's fat-burning hormones, say University of Wisconsin researchers. "Plus, because of its high protein content — it contains more than any other dairy product — you'll stay full longer," notes Dr. La Puma. "Grate one ounce on soups or salads daily.

Now to see if they work.  I am not sure about the Peanut butter but I guess all things in moderation. But I do like the idea of the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.

Wishing everyone a healthy New Year and lots of laughter.
